The J39 Mogensen Chair is a masterpiece crafted from solid wood with a handwoven natural paper cord seat. Designed by Børge Mogensen in 1947, the clean lines and use of natural materials of the dining chair are distinctive features that contribute to the chair's unwavering popularity.
Everything about the chair is in line with Mogensen's vision of creating high-quality, functional furniture that could make modern design popular with all walks of life. He used established carpentry principles often found in traditional furniture from around the world. In this case, inspiration came primarily from the Shaker movement, captured in the chair's basic silhouette and no-frills aesthetic.
Because of its simple expression and durable construction, the J39 Mogensen dining chair is a remarkably versatile piece that remains in demand to this day.
