Farmer Chair - Armchair from Cor
Design: Gerd Langes for COR
DIY from the time when there was no DIY.
Put the strips together, stretch the cover, done. The modular principle of Gerd Lange's chair design was groundbreaking at the time. And at the same time so simple and playful that every layperson can easily, almost playfully, assemble their personal seating furniture from COR - then as now.
This armchair is designed for durability and the purists among design lovers.
Not only the style of this wooden chair is made for a long service life, but also the material: solid wood oiled through and through.
Despite the minimalist design of the Farmer Chair, every detail has been lovingly thought out. Such as the overlapping of the solid wooden planks, the backrest that can be moved and tilted freely forwards and backwards, or the indestructible and quick-drying outdoor fabric that is stretched with the help of cords.
8 wooden planks, 4 square bars, 2 lengths of fabric. Everything installed strictly at right angles. The fabric is laid crosswise. 2 metal clips. Point. The fact that such minimalist components come together to create such a casual piece of furniture is already the first phenomenon. The second thing is that the chair looks like it was just created. Because designer Gerd Lange created the identical predecessor of the Farmer armchair back in 1965.
In the mid-century, seating furniture mainly adorned the terraces of artistic bohemia, but today it can be used anywhere. Whether on the balcony, the terrace, in the living room or in the reading corner. But the lounge chair is also very suitable for an elegant and modern atmosphere in the bedroom. The graphic form brings the corresponding puristic furnishing style into every facility. The design language is inviting and modern.
